My parents had been in this city earlier in their trip and had seen this beautiful palace up on the hill. Their guide at that time said you could only go to the palace if you were a guest of the hotel. The royal family still lives there so access is very limited.

As we have discovered while traveling with Tara, she has magical powers. Not only do we get a formal drum, rose petal, champagne welcome and a tour of the place, but we are served cocktails and appetizers in their bar/lounge, complete with dark interior and trophy heads on the wall. And, as she hoped but could not be certain we were served a full dinner from a top chef on the veranda overlooking the city. And if that hadn't worked out because of her travel connections, she does have an 'in' with the family, she knows the mother of the princess. If you ever want to travel to India, Tara is the only agent you need.
Main Lobby
Elevator with a bench for your tired bones
The lobby area for the Majaraja and Majarani suites, the two best. And as should be fitting, the lady Majarani gets the nicer suite.
We visited the Majaraja suite, pictures below, among a couple others a level or two down.
The massage room, and the suite also has a steam room.
The dressing room, because it's certainly not a closet.
